BASIC ASPECTS OF THE LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION IN THE COACH


The coach is a basic character of the sport process and it fulfills for his example and type of intervention, a basic paper next to the apprentices, the parents and the leaders. The attitude that takes office, the form as it intervenes, as transmit knowledges, since it resists the situations and since one connects with all the intervenient ones in the sports phenomenon it depends in the way like perspective his participation and that of the children and young persons in sports practice. And everything passes fundamentally over the attitude face to the victory and to the defeat. The victory cannot be the exclusive objective nor the only criterion of result.
The apprentices, specially children and young persons, are easily influenced by the adults his habits, attitudes and behaviours.

The relation coach-apprentice does not consist in a mere transmission and reception of information, but it constitutes a dynamic, reciprocal interaction, for times with conflict, of thoughts, opinions, feelings and emotions.

It is into the coach that the responsibility relapses of creating the essential conditions to the development of the communication, having to:

a) - To diagnose the level of development of the apprentices and to choose and to use with opportunity and flexibility the different styles of leadership (directive delegation, support and encouragement): - negotiating in the form when apprentices who are in different levels from development were differentiated; - to think that in different tasks the same apprentice can present levels different from development.

  • to think that a determined style of leadership that should be adapted for an apprentice at a determined moment, will be able to be late unsuitable;

b) - To be careless and to stimulate the expression of the apprentices: - to hear with attention and in the active form; - to avoid to interrupt the interlocutor; - to avoid the tendency to answer emotionally.

c) - To use with criterion the praise and the reprimand.

The praise is the key for the formation and development of the apprentices (TWO EYES in WHAT THEY DO WELL AND A HALF EYE in WHICH THEY DO BADLY), the reprimand is an instrument to deal with problems of attitude and motivation.

To use well the praises and the reprimands it is a necessary short being, to be specific, to be sincere, to stimulate the individual.

In the use of the reprimands, there are still some particular aspects in what to accent imports: - to do the reprimands in accordance with the level of development of the apprentices; - the second part of a reprimand must be a praise, showing to a stamped one that the behaviour cannot be good but the person is; - to reprimand on top of the event; - to show sincere interest for the person who is reprimanded;

One of the things that more marks a human, childish or adult being, is to lose the affection, the consideration, the attention and the recognition of other human beings, specially of that what they fulfill in his life a significant paper. When the children and young persons know that his value as person for his family, coach and leader, does not depend on his performance in the sports, feel confident and develop positive attitudes on his participation in sport practice.
